About Bluegrass Farms

Our roots go back nearly 25 years, when we began producing Identity Preserved Grain as seed. We are now building on the same skills and knowledge and applying them to the food industry. Our trained professionals select cultivars that have unique milling properties from the best plant breeding programs in the country and link these traits to specific uses within the food industry.

Purity/Production

One of the most important components of our products is how they are handled in the field. We have developed a very extensive program that protects the integrity of our grain. We use our own internal measurements, as well as an independent inspection agency, to help insure the viability and reliability of our process.  Our strongest attribute is our ability to isolate unique varieties and protect them from unwanted contamination. It is very important to manage each stage of production. We concentrate on every stage of production from planting until the final product is delivered to our customers.

  • Our contract growers have experience producing specialty grains. They take the time to clean and operate their equipment and must have high quality production history.
  • 100% pure new seed is quality assured and inspected. Our growers are prohibited from keeping seed from their own production.
  • Production records are maintained on every field level to eliminate any contamination problem.  These include field history, cultivation practices, agronomic inputs and climate condition reports.
  • A third party inspection to insure genetic purity controls disease, insect and weed problems. Quality control in the field insures superior grain quality.
  • Bins are inspected before storage takes place.
  • We use our own fleet of trucks and trained team of drivers to haul our products allowing us additional quality control and timely delivery of your product.

The end result of our production is a uniform identity preserved grain product that meets the needs of our international and domestic customers.
